Creating a friendly environment in which to work

Our Responsibilities

Wettons are carbon neutral.

All clients receive a copy of our Environmental Policy which outlines our commitment to continued improvements in our impact on the environment due to the running of our business. We continue to work towards ISO 14001.

As part of that process in 2007 we had an independent audit from the energy saving trust on our fleet of vehicles. We have a number of environmentally friendly fleet vehicles (LPG/Hybrid vehicles) which meet both government and EU targets in the reduction of carbon dioxide emission. We have continued to adapt and changed some of our methods to ensure a more environmentally friendly fleet is operated.

This has led us to review the way in which we operate elsewhere within our company measuring the carbon emissions associated with our business, reducing them and offsetting any unavoidable emissions. Our emissions are collected and independently verified by the Carbon Neutral company.

In 2007 we used our carbon credits to support two projects. The first being methane capture in Germany. Methane is 21 times more potent than CO2 as a green house gas. The second project is the construction of wind turbines in India.

Wettons are working closely with local authorities on the use of pilot schemes for recycling.

We are happy to recommend to our clients any recycling opportunities that we see are potentially viable with regards to the running of the contract.

Interesting stats on our recycling

In Wettons first year of recycling collections, we collected on average over 35 tonnes of paper each month from our clients.

Paper

Did you know each ton of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, over two cubic metres of landfill space, 4000 kw of energy and 7000 gallons of water.

One tree can filter up to 60 pounds of pollutants from the air each year

Wettons support a number of charities and sports clubs.

Railway children

One of the charities we support is the Railway Children who help runaway and abandoned children who live in and around railway stations.

The sports clubs we support encourage youth team development in local communities. We have committed to these projects long term to ensure their success.

One of these is the Hurricane Netball Team in Kent.
