Case Study: Brighton & Hove

Wettons were awarded the Brighton and Hove public convenience contract in 1999. Since this date we have worked very closely with the council to improve the facilities provided to the local residents and the 8 million tourists that visit this city each year.

Wettons encouraged the entries to the “Loo of the Year” awards run by the British Toilet Association. This is an independent body that look at the standards of excellence in all areas of public toilet provision and management.

Brighton and Hove first entered these awards in 2000 and were awarded several 3 star and 4 star awards. By working in partnership with the council in 2007 Brighton and Hove were placed 2nd in the overall league table. Wettons were also awarded the “UK External Contractor of the Year”. This was awarded in recognition of our continued level of service and standard which are delivered year after year.

In addition Wettons were successful in the re-tender of Brighton and Hove public conveniences for a further 10 years. This contract includes both cleaning and minor maintenance. We have introduced new ways in which to monitor cleaning standards and the use of new technology helps to manage mobile staff efficiently. We look to continue our success over the period of this contract.
